Juan is an educational technology consultant and AI integration specialist with experience spanning Silicon Valley tech startups and international schools. He spent five years as a high school design teacher and technology integrator at International School of Kenya, where he led comprehensive educational technology initiatives including AI policy development, AI and VR implementation, and faculty trainings across all divisions.
Prior to education, Juan worked as a data analyst at a Silicon Valley logistics startup developing machine learning solutions. He began his teaching career during the COVID-19 pandemic’s shift to online learning and has since guided schools through the emergence of generative AI in education. A Venezuelan Third Culture Kid now based in New York, Juan brings a global perspective to serving international schools worldwide. He’s bilingual in Spanish and English, and his “conversational” French and Portuguese are good enough to order food and ask for directions (results may vary). He holds a B.A. in Social Sciences from Sarah Lawrence College and teaching certification from Moreland University.
When not helping schools navigate technology challenges, Juan can be found playing or trying out whatever sport you invite him to – from rock climbing and kitesurfing to fútbol (his true love), tennis or beach volleyball. He lives in New York with his partner and their dog, Paquito.
